Haku Maglev
Mission
Making rail mobility fast and reliable.
The challenge
Rail transport is slow, capacity is underutilized, maintenance is high, and performance is weather dependent. Additionally, around 25% of trains in the Netherlands still operate on diesel, causing high emissions and unsustainable rail operations.
The solution
We develop a maglev system on existing railway infrastructure. By eliminating wheel-rail contact, trains can reach speeds up to 500 km/h, increase line capacity, reduce maintenance by 60–70%, and operate reliably in all weather conditions. The system is powered by batteries, eliminating diesel use. While conventional maglev requires new infrastructure (€40–60M per double-track km), our approach enables maglev on existing tracks at a fraction of the cost (~€4M per double-track km).
