The challenge

Research from MOJO shows that around 300 tons of CO2 yearly are being pumped into the air due to burning of residual festival waste. 31% of this pollution is because people treat tents like single-use products. What most people don’t know is that tents are currently still non-recyclable due to their chemical treatments and the fact that they consist out of many different materials sewed together which can not be taken apart. The result? They end up on a pile and get either burned. The event and festival industry is now moving towards a more sustainable direction. However, currently the focus lies in the food sector like using hard cups, whilst these thousands of tents and kilos of waste are being left behind due to consumer behavior from festival visitors.
